And the longer version . . .
As a child I was plunged into the fragmenting effects of trauma early in life, which had the effect of popping me up and out of my body – out of the world of nature and human connection in search of safe haven in Spirit. And Spirit always responded with grace, opening windows, doors, and grand gateways for reconnecting as I grew up and left home. Along the way, I discovered that true spirituality requires deep roots in nature and humanity. Seeking healing and answers to big life questions, I explored Christian mysticism and metaphysics, Buddhism, Tantra, Castañeda, Watts, Wilber, Native American wisdom, and more. I earned a Master’s degree in Counseling, became a certified Master NLP Practitioner and an endorsed member of the Core Transformation Trainers Association, and owned a successful private psychotherapy practice.
I grew up in the diverse terrains of New Mexico, Texas, New York, California and southern Illinois. I now live in Colorado on the edge of the Colorado Plateau, near the confluence of the Colorado and Roaring Fork rivers, where I’m inspired by Mt. Sopris, Mamm Mountain, Storm King, and the Grand Hogback. My feet love finding the rhythms of earth, wherever I am.

But none of these experiences met my deep longing for freedom and wholeness. Eventually, the opportunity for formal initiation in the Andean medicine traditions presented itself, primarily through Shaman’s Light™ Initiation and Mentoring for Your Genius, (MartiSpiegelman.org) and through travel to the Sacred Valley and mountains of Peru. The core organizing principles of life, the universe, and consciousness itself form an important part of that training and initiation, and are integral to my work with others. I have also worked with shamans of Nepal, Tibet, and Tuva.
Additional training – much of it through Shaman’s Light ™ — in Visionary Skills, Luminous Awareness, Visionary Craniosacral work, Conversations with Light, the evolutionary nature of dreams, and trauma resolution through an energetic lens — help to flesh out the resources available for us to draw on in our work together.
Along the way, I also authored two books, Reclaiming Wholeness (Letting Your Light Shine When You’re Scared to be Seen) and Walking in Wholeness (Women Reclaiming Authentic Passion, Purpose, and Power).
